Happy Winter-centered Holidays, everyone!
STEP ONE

Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. (This year, it's popular to have it listed on your info page.) The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fun ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

If you wish for real possible things, make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post so that the holiday joy will spread.

STEP TWO

Surf around your friendslist (or friends' friends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. (That's why this year we suggest you list 'wish list' under your interests so folks may search.) And now here's the important part:

If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it. Once a wish has been granted, it will be crossed off my list.

You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

Step Three

My list:

1. I would love a new LJ-layout; I couldn't graphic art my way out of a shoebox.

2. A CD of your favorite songs, whatever genre they are. I love finding new music interests!

3. Favorite quotes. I have a jar I keep favorite quotes in, and read them when I need a laugh, or need to be inspired. Please include whose quote it is - if it's just a favorite saying of yours, or a funny T-shirt, that works, too!

4. Wild, fun office supplies - magnets, post-it notes, pens, etc. Yep, I'm a dork.

5. Icons - check out my interests for ideas - I'd love icons for any of them!

6. Christmas / holiday cards sent to my house.

7. Fic written just for me, check interests for favorite pairings. Any length, any rating.

8. Scrapbook supplies for adults. Not scrapbooking erotica or anything (do they make that? hmm...), but papers, etc that aren't geared toward documenting the life and times of a 3 year old.

9. Donations made to a local shelter/charity, etc. Do whatever makes you happy, then tell me what you did.

10. It's sad, but I need hugs. Click my hug o'meter on my user info page, I need to feel the lurve!

Contact me at redrayne 717 at hot mail . com for my home address, etc.

Wonderful - thank you!! The second one is my favorite. As for the banner, Spander is always a good thing.

Here are some quotes and where they come from!

This one time in an elevator, I could tell a stranger was trying
to work up the nerve to say something. He finally looks at me and
says 'Harry Potter?' I said 'Nope,' and neither one of us said
anything else the whole ride. - Elijah Wood

If I were a scientist working in a big lab, I'd shout 'EUREKA!'
every so often just to boost morale. - fan_this

"It's grrliz, broadcasting live from STATE OF SHOCK!!"
"Do you think David Beckham's new fragrance will repel the
Portuguese the way it repels the weather?"
"Dentistry should not be a dating service."
"I Avada Kedavra'd a wizard at Hogwarts just to watch him
die... or did I?" - grrliz subject lines

I lost my corkscrew once, and we were forced to live on nothing but food and water for days!
When life hands you lemons, make whisky sours!
Love is finding your favorite person to hate and giving it all you've got!
I had a terrible education. I attended a school for emotionally disturbed teachers.
dryope subject lines

Even at my lowest times I can feel the words bubbling inside of me.
I had to get them down or be overcome by something worse than death.
Words, not as precious things but as necessary things. Yet, when I
begin to doubt my ability to work the word, I simply read another
writer and I know I have nothing to worry about. My contest is only
with myself, to do it right. With power and force. And delight and
gamble. - the movie Factotum

It's a hundred generations removed from anything original, but the
truth is, aren't we all? - Chuck Palahniuk, 'Invisible Monsters'

~Words. Hundreds and thousands of words. They float, they fly, they
create. Every day a million words are spoken to those we love, hate
and helplessly ignore. We say so much we forget what ties us to them.
We say so much that we forget what we mean. Sometimes we talk so much
that we don't even hear what we're saying. The words get tangled, and
it is then that we are lost. - no idea!

~People have an amazing capacity to change. One minute you're thinking
straight, then the world turns and someone becomes a different person,
and suddenly it's goodbye straight and narrow, hello complicated
curves. We can become different people overnight and turn on those we
trust - this we know from having done it before. But when someone
changes so rapidly, the mystery remains: where did that old persona
disappear to? Let me lay it on the line for you: in all probability,
it's gone. Nothing ever stays the same. Change, like intimacy, is
inevitable. The question is, how do we make it stop? - Me

In everyone's life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then
burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We should
all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit.

A TINY BATMAN AND SUPERMAN JUST CAME TO MY DOOR AND I GAVE
THEM HALF OUR CANDY. - no idea!

The only reason for being a professional writer is that you
can't help it.

Everyone thinks they can be a writer. Most people don't understand
what's involved. The real writers persevere. The ones that don't
either don't have enough fortitude and they probably wouldn't succeed
anyway, or they fall in love with the glamour of writing as opposed
to the writing of writing. -Peter McWilliams

I learned that you should feel when writing, not like Lord Byron
on a mountain top, but like child stringing beads in kindergarten,
- happy, absorbed and quietly putting one bead on after another. -Brenda Ueland

Pretty random assortment there, LOL, but I hope some are useful!

Thank you so much for the t-shirt package! It really made me smile when everything else was fubar. Kent State is my new favorite t-shirt. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
